For Advertising & Promotions Managers ·
What you'll accomplish
Round three of a shelf talker proof comes back as eleven emails and a marked-up PDF. Brand wants the headline bigger, Sales wants it smaller, and Legal has a note about the line under the offer. After this setup, you paste the comments into a Gem and get one numbered change list for the agency, a short "you decide" section for the conflicts, and a "for legal" section. You still make every call.
A note on timing: Google is replacing Gemini Gems with skills. Per Google's support page on the change, personal accounts move in November 2026 and Workspace business accounts in March 2027. Existing Gems are recreated as skills automatically, so the instructions you write here carry over.
What you'll need
Gems are saved, reusable versions of Gemini with their own instructions.
What you should see: A form with a name field and an instructions box. Troubleshooting: If you cannot find Gems, your plan or your company's Workspace settings may not include it. Ask your IT team, or check the Gemini help pages for your account type. If skills have already replaced Gems for your account, create a skill from the same instructions.
Call it "Proof Feedback Consolidator" so nobody mistakes it for a copywriter.
You consolidate stakeholder comments on an advertising or promotion proof into one clear list for the agency.
I will paste comments. Each starts with the commenter's team: Brand, Sales or Legal.
Produce three sections:
1. CHANGE LIST FOR THE AGENCY. A numbered list. Merge duplicate comments into one item.
Write each item as one clear instruction. Keep my team's meaning exactly. Do not soften, strengthen or reinterpret a comment.
After each item, note in brackets which teams asked for it.
2. YOU DECIDE. List every pair or group of comments that conflict. For each, quote what each team said, with the team name. Do not recommend a winner.
3. FOR LEGAL. List every comment that touches a product claim, a price, an offer term or the legal line, with the commenter's team. Do not suggest wording. Do not judge whether anything is acceptable.
Rules:
- Never add a comment that was not in my paste.
- Never drop a comment. At the end, state how many comments I pasted and how many appear in the three sections combined, and name any that appear in more than one.
- If a comment is unclear, put it under YOU DECIDE with the label "unclear" instead of guessing.
- Never write product claims, offer terms or fine print.
What you should see: The instructions saved. Use the preview chat on the page to test it.
Paste a small set you made up.
Example input (invented):
Proof: Brand X shelf talker, round 3
Brand: Make the headline larger.
Sales: The headline is too big for the Retailer A shelf edge. Make it smaller.
Brand: Move the logo to the top left.
Sales: Logo placement is fine, please keep it where it is.
Legal: The line under the offer has to match the approved wording exactly.
Sales: Can we say the offer is the best deal of the season?
Brand: Headline larger please, and the photo is too dark.
That is seven comments. A good result puts the headline and logo disagreements under "you decide," puts the "best deal" question and the legal line comment under "for legal," lists the dark photo as a change item, and reports seven comments in and seven accounted for, with the headline and logo comments showing in more than one place.
Troubleshooting: If the count does not match, say "Recount and list which comment is missing" and fix the instruction that allowed it.
Save the Gem. From now on, open it for each proof round and paste that round's comments.
